Life Under Occupation

This series uses contemporary posters, images, and eyewitness accounts to examine how people experienced World War II away from the battlefield. It examines not only life on the home front but also what it was like to do military service or to live under enemy occupation, as well as the influence of propaganda and espionage on the course of the conflict. This book explores what it was like to live under occupation or to be forced to work for an enemy government. It describes the fate of the Jews under the Germans and that of millions of displaced people after the end of the war.
