System Landschaft / Landscape as a System

„Landschaft" wird heute immer stärker als komplexes System begriffen: Biotope und Wasserkreisläufe, Freiräume und Bauten, Nachbarschaften und Wirtschaftsräume sind Komponenten dieses Systems. Eine solche Betrachtung des Landschaftsraums als gemeinsame Schnittstelle von sozialen, kulturellen, wirtschaftlichen und anderen Prozessen bringt – beflügelt durch international geführte Fachdiskurse über Klimafolgelandschaften oder räumliche Konversion – neue Strategien des Umgangs mit Ökosystemen hervor.

Das Buch analysiert und dokumentiert diese internationale Entwicklung sowie ihre Bedeutung für Landschaftsarchitekten, aber auch für Regionalentwicklung, Stadtplanung und Architektur. An zahlreichen aktuellen Planungen und anhand von Essays renommierter Autoren (u.a. Wolfgang Haber, Claus Käpplinger, Andreas Rossmann) zeigt das attraktive Buch, mit welchen Strategien die Profession den neuen Herausforderungen begegnet.

Erstmals werden neben den Ergebnissen des Deutschen Landschaftsarchitektur-Preises auch zwei weitere wichtige Preise vorgestellt: Der renommierte, jährlich international ausgeschriebene Peter-Joseph-Lenné-Preis des Landes Berlin, an dem mehr als 130 junge Landschaftsarchitekten teilgenommen haben, und der gemeinsam vom bdla und der Zeitschrift Häuser ausgeschriebene Sonderpreis „Hausgarten".

"Landscape" today is increasingly being seen as a complex system: biotopes and water cycles, open spaces and built structures, neighborhoods and commercial areas – all are components of this system, which is therefore subject to a broad array of influences. Aided by international discussions within the profession, this view of landscape as the common interface between social, cultural, economic, and other processes is giving rise to new strategies for working with ecosystems. This book analyzes and documents this international development and its significance for landscape architects but also for regional development, city planning, and architecture. With numerous current planning projects and essays by famous authors (including Wolfgang Haber, Claus Käpplinger, and Andreas Rossmann), this attractive book presents the strategies the profession is using to meet these new challenges. For the first time, two other important awards are presented alongside the results of the Deutscher Landschaftsarchitektur-Preis (German Landscape Architecture Award): the celebrated international Peter-Joseph-Lenné-Preis des Landes Berlin (Peter Joseph Lenné Award of the State of Berlin), which is given out annually and this year involved the participation of more than 130 young landscape architects, and the special "Hausgarten" ("Garden") award, which is jointly bestowed by the bdla and the journal Häuser (Houses).
