Podrobné informace

Abbas Dankoli closed his eyes and sighed as memories rushed back to him. He continued thinking, giving meanings to events, realizing that there always have been humane, brotherly Americans; a conscientious generation unusually upright and expressive who remained distinctly persevering within the overpowering conceit and twisted morality of their society. He sighed again, baffled; remembering the Americans he knew who had delightfully delivered the promises they inherited. He glanced at the young woman beside him and an all-consuming peace he had never known enveloped him. .. Among the Promise Keepers is the story of Abbas, Buba and Gimba, three young men studying in the United States. In it they encounter more than what they see at first sight. In the resulting psychological and cultural displacement, Abbas gets shot and becomes involved with an African-American woman, Marianne. Buba becomes a drug addict and is in trouble with the police in spite of Freda, a white woman, as Gimba's confidence in women wavers, until Sophia gets to him. Among the Promise Keepers explores the common humanity the binds White, Black and Brown in circumstances that supersede race and colour.
