In 1991, Porfiry Lavrov Cheerless (nicknamed "Solntselyub") finds a folder with a manuscript in his death row, edits the text and presents it for publication as a novel by an unknown author. Each chapter of the work is composed of events occurring in the on-line mode, which are entitled "VOLD (tragoedia)", followed by the memories and experiences of the hero himself and the stories of some of his classmates. In some places lyrical digressions, which are called "extraordinary novels" and "harmsiads," are interspersed in the text. Some chapters complete quotes from the poets Voloshin and Zabolotsky. "Farewell extraordinary stories" - as the unknown author designated his work "...The hero sees a terrible dream, which at first seems to him a real reality. But the nightmare in its incredibility goes so far that the hero realizes that he is sleeping and dreaming. The worst thing in this dream is not the events of a nightmare, but the fact that the hero cannot wake up in any way. He had long been convinced that this was indeed a dream. But days, weeks, months pass - and he just can not escape from his dream. When his despair reaches the limit - he wakes up! This is a prison cell. After a few months, his term ends. When the hero goes free, the events of a nightmare begin to repeat with literal accuracy in reality, and reality itself begins to resemble a nightmare. This novel is a premonition of the future. After all, the year 1991 is in the yard ...
