Factors Affecting Profitability and Sustainability of Government University's Enterprise

The rapid growth of global markets observed over the last decade has stimulated competition in both developed and developing countries, forcing entrepreneurs and policy makers to adopt market-oriented policies. Researchers have stated that enterprises often have good ideas and are competent but "they do not have a clue on how to run a business and have no underlying appreciation of business fundamentals". Improper resource utilization and unconscious cost orientation can affect profitability and sustainability of ASTUE. The general objective of this study was to examine factors affecting profitability and sustainability of enterprises in government universities; the case of Adama Science and Technology. The specific objectives were: to identify factors that affecting enterprise performance in Adama Science and Technology University, to assess the profitability and sustainability of enterprise in Adama Science and Technology University and to analyze the relationship between the existing factors and the current status of enterprise in Adama Science and Technology University. The current study is important since it will give good insight to all enterprises.
