Today, he is perhaps best remembered for his contributions to the science fiction genre, thanks to such novels as &quote;The Time Machine&quote; (1895), &quote;The Invisible Man&quote; (1897), and &quote;The War of the Worlds&quote; (1898). &quote;The Father of Science Fiction&quote; was also a staunch socialist, and his later works are increasingly political and didactic.
