Computed tomography is a medical imaging procedure which uses ionizing radiation to produce the three dimensional cross sectional images of human body as compared to two dimensional images in most radiograph. It is a fast, painless and non-invasive method. It offers clear image of bone, muscle, blood vessel and can be used to plan surgeries, guide biopsies, detect injuries to internal organs and help in visualization of both hard and soft tissues, assess injuries of maxillofacial skeletal region, fractures of mandible, detection of impacted teeth and vertical root fractures and placement of implants.
