Detailed information

Aflatoxins are naturally occurring toxic substances found in grains, nuts, soil, fruits, vegetables and other crops. They are produced by ubiquitous fungi (Aspergilus flavus and Aspergilus Paraciticus) and classified as type 1 carcinogenic substance. Exposure to Aflatoxins in human and animal feed affects the incidence and severity of many infectious diseases while extended exposure is implicated in stunting, immunodeficiency, immunosuppression, liver cancer etc in both human and animal. Since Date fruits and Tiger but are major consumed without additional processing, they therefore pose a higher risk to Aflatoxins exposure.
