Detailed information

Paying attention to the family is one of the most important pillars of patient care, because the family is often responsible for supporting the patient. Families who are unable to cope with an ICU intensive care unit may experience an emotional crisis and experience reactions of shock, anger, frustration, anxiety, and depression, especially during the first 72 hours of hospitalization. In some cases, they even experience more stress than patients. The most important need of families when visiting hospitals is to ensure adequate patient care and information about the patient, prognosis and treatment process. The need for convenience has also been cited by families as the least important need. Each member of the health care team should support the patient's family members in coping with and coping with the stressful situation. Assessing the needs of the family and performing the necessary interventions to meet these needs in times of crisis is effective in reducing the anxiety of the patient's family members.
