Detailed information

This book focuses on the social representations of academic success/failure of recent immigrant students in Quebec, particularly those who arrived in Montreal schools in the aftermath of the January 12, 2010 earthquake in Haiti. This research also focuses on the social representations of academic success/failure of their teachers and principals. The problematic addresses issues related to school dropout among young immigrants, including Haitian youth, the importance of academic success for their social integration and participation, the factors explaining their academic difficulties as well as potential avenues of understanding their academic difficulties, and their migratory and academic experiences.
