Detailed information

Progressive scoliosis in children poses a real problem of therapeutic difficulty, because in spite of a well conducted orthopedic treatment, a certain number of these deformities continue to worsen. Even surgical treatment in this type of scoliosis is not as successful as expected in a good number of cases, and above all presents significant mechanical complications. For all these reasons, the problem of management of progressive scoliosis in children remains: What should be done before the age of arthrodesis in the face of worsening scoliosis? The management modalities must respond to the need to preserve pulmonary function, to maintain growth of the spine and trunk, while controlling spinal alignment.
