Detailed information

Carbon sequestration is considered as the most viable approach to reduce the rising concentration of atmospheric carbon dioxide due to anthropogenic activities. Among the various carbon sequestration strategies, biosequestration using trees receives considerable attention as it offers an eco-friendly approach. In this direction an attempt has been carried out to estimate the carbon sequestration potentials of selected tree species pertaining to the outer belt of Swaraj round, Thrissur. Each tree species were identified up to species level along with habit and common name. The carbon sequestration efficiencies were worked out separately using non-destructive methods.
