State, Capital and Labour

This book investigates the changing fortunes of working people in a capitalist society. In doing so, it is not content just to look at developments in labour market conditions; instead, bringing in material not usually considered pertinent, it proposes that the status of labour is 'fixed' by the interplay of the State's demand for loyal, patriotic citizens and Capital's demand for loyal, obedient workers.
