Integrated Optoelectronics

The aim of this monograph is to provide a basic understanding of the devices used in optoelectronic integrated circuits and optical signal processing such as wave guides, couplers, switches, modulators, laser diodes and photodetectors. The derivations are detailed and can be followed without additional references. Modern quantum device aspects are included in the text. The results on waveguides, directional couplers, laser diodes or photodiodes are of particular interest to the reader since these are the elements of greatest importance for applications in optical data transmission and photonic information-processing systems. The book contains numerous quantitative examples and, in addition, a large number of end-of-chapter problems.
