Orient oder Rom

Josef Strzygowski (1862-1941) was a controversial scholar who proposed that early Christian art and architecture owed as much to Middle Eastern traditions as to ancient Greece and Rome. This illustrated work, first published in 1901, analyses the techniques and iconography of selected artefacts from the third and fourth centuries.
