A compliant mechanism is a flexible structure that elastically deforms without joints to produce a desired force or displacement. Unlike rigid-body mechanisms, compliant mechanisms gain some of their mobility from deflection of flexible members rather than from movable joints. The advantages of compliant mechanisms are considered in cost reduction and to increase the performance.The objective of this research work is to formulate the general procedure for the design of compliant mechanism from a given basic geometry. Also to design a compliant gripper from basic geometry design domain using topology optimization approach and design of a compliant mechanism to give the specified output displacement.
