Urinary tract infection is a very frequent entity in our clinical practice. It is the second cause of infection of community origin and the first in the hospital setting. All this at a critical time for antimicrobial treatment due to the increase in multi-resistant microorganisms and the absence of short-term alternatives. Urinary tract infections in women is a serious public health problem worldwide and is the second most frequent pathology of infectious origin after those related to the respiratory tract. In women, UTIs are the fourth most common cause of emergency department visits. The text describes the risk factors associated with the development of urinary tract infection in pregnant women in the province of Ciego de Avila.
