Detailed information

The main objective of the present study is to design the water distribution network (WDN) by using EPANET software in the view of future demand of the people present in Ramnaresh nagar, Hyderabad. In order to design the WDN, population forecasting is carried out for three decades which is of 23368 by using Geometrical incremental method. The network consists of number of connections 500, total length of pipe in the network 3.22 km and reservoir capacity 50 mgd., number of junctions are 48, the pipe material is of ductile iron with roughness coefficient 120. The maximum flow rate in the network is of 13.22 lps at first hour and minimum of 0.11 lps. More over the excess water delivered during non peak hour can be stored in the sump and can be used during peak hours time. The main problem in this network is presence of dead end pipes which in turn leads to stagnation of the water and thereby reducing the velocity and pressure. The present study also comparing values of hydraulic parameters of EPANET software with manual calculated values haves got nearly same.
