Detailed information

Root and tuber crops in general and sweet potato in particular are need to be cultivated for food security in countries like Ethiopia where population is growing at an alarming rate and thrives best in areas where there is difficulty in field crop production. Therefore, important to increase production and productivity of the crop by adopting different agronomic practices including nutrient management. In view of this, an experiment was conducted to investigate evaluating the growth and yield Response of Sweet Potato (Ipomea batatas L.) to the Application of Organic and Inorganic Fertilizers at Wolaita Zones, Southern Ethiopia. The experiment was conducted using randomized complete block design (RCBD) in factorial arrangement with three replications .Compost (0, 2, 3, and 4ton/ha) and potassium nitrate (0, 25, 50, and 100kg/ha) were used as experimental treatments. The experimental results indicated Compost and potassium nitrate and its interaction on days to total root yield, marketable root weight, average storage root number per plant, total fresh biomass and number of branch per plants were significantly affected by Compost and potassium nitrate.
