Detailed information

The expedition carried out by the governor of Egypt to the White Sea or the White Nile was mentioned in the periodic collection of the Geographical Society (July 1840). The expedition was composed of 400 men under the command of an Egyptian officer, with the intention of exploration and reconnaissance, and it was the first of its kind. The journey of Al-Bakbashi Salim Qaboudan was the first fruit of the civilization whose light was emanated in Egypt twenty-five years ago. For this reason, it was worthy of attention and care with regard to the country of its subject and the people who carried it out, even if its results were not fully achieved. However, the issue of the Nile springs has so far remained the subject of the aspiration of all peoples, and may remain so for a long time into the future. Al-Qabudan Slim's journey lasted 135 days since he left Khartoum, and her account contains a wealth of data about the course of the White Sea, its tributaries, the inhabitants descending on its banks, and the natural resources witnessed therein. It is the beginning of explorations in geography and commercial ties.
