Okra (Abelmoschous esculentus (L.) Moench) is an important vegetable crop and has significant contribution towards securing the food and nutrition to avoid the poverty and hunger in the World. India is the largest okra producer in the World. It suffer from the number of diseases caused by fungus, bacteria, virus and nematodes. Among them, yellow vein mosaic caused by okra yellow vein mosaic virus (OYVMV), which is a species of genus Begomovirus, family Geminiviridae, is the very important disease in India. The studies were conducted for the symptomatological and transmission studies, population dynamics of whitefly, molecular characterization, screening and management of yellow vein mosaic of okra. The symptom of yellow vein mosaic of okra (OYVM) on young leaves appeared as diffused and mottled spots. Older leaves have irregular yellow interveinal areas. The fruits become malformed and reduced in size. The virus under study could not be transmitted through mechanical sap inoculation in okra plants.
