Detailed information

Sexual abuse is a grim fact in our society, far more painful for children who are caught in this web of silence- most secretive and damaging in the long run. Children below the age of 15 years are most vulnerable to abuse. It is found that one in four girls and one in six boys are sexually abused before the age of 18 years. These days' children are at risk even within their home environment. The majority of victims are sexually abused by a family member or by a family friend or someone outside the family who the victim knows and trusts. The abuse affects the victims not only while they are young but throughout their 14 lifetime with a wide range of adverse physical and behavioural health conditions.A truly comprehensive approach to preventing 15 child sexual abuse is educating and enlightening children about such issues. It is keeping these points in the background; the researcher recognizes the need to, primarily educate children about the issue and enable them to keep themselves safer.
