The socio-economic development among tribal groups is still very stagnant in India. Orissa is one of the major states in India having a higher proportion of tribal population and their socio-economic is not much better improved but it has been progressing slowly since a long decades, that effort made by both the central and state governments. Therefore, this study made an effort to examine the living conditions like ethnographic picture and cultural setting along with socio-economic conditions and educational problems among Dongria Kondh a primitive tribe of 62 tribal groups in Orissa state of India. This study examined the socio-economic and demographic correlates and explored the educational problems faced by school going children in school and attitude of parents towards school education. In addition that there is also an attempt made to understand the teacher s problems and their opinion about tribal children education. The study results that socio-economic condition is not much better and they still strong in cultural beliefs which may affect the lives of better life and educational development. It has significant to educationists, researchers, policy makers of our country.
