William Wilberforce, 1759-1833

Characterized as the wittiest and most religious man in England, William Wilberforce, a prominent Member of Parliament, was also a convert to Evangelical Christianity in the Church of England. He became the most prominent layman in the Evangelical Revival and the leader of many of its causes, particularly the anti-slavery campaign.
