Detailed information

"Marcion and his Apostle"
Reconstruction and Historical Classification of the Marcionian Pauline Letters
(Text in German)
The New Testament edited by Marcion (consisting of one Gospel and ten letters of the Apostle Paul), which in its traditional text has been altered for theological reasons, is now only available in fragments found in the works of his opponents.
The surviving fragments are reconstructed, and the extent of editing is determined here (for the first time since Adolf von Harnack), for the segment dealing with the Pauline letters.
Proceeding from this, a theory is proposed in regard to the history of how the Pauline letters were collected. In it, the sources used by Marcion are analyzed as a part of this history, and as a presupposition for his own dealings in church politics.
