Detailed information

Imines ligands played an influencing role in development of coordination chemistry and were involved as key point in the development of inorganic biochemistry and optical materials. They find application as catalyst, medicine, biologcidal agent, fluorescent materials, dye and corrosion inhibitors. Augmentation of activity was reported by implementation of transition metals into imine ligands. Moreover, imine complexes have been found to be important precursors for semiconducting materials. Moreover, imine ligands containing different heterocyclic ring like 2-aminopyridine ring and isatin occupies a unique position in the field of medicinal chemistry. Many naturally occurring compounds having pyridine moiety exhibit interesting biological and pharmacological activities. They also, used as herbicides, for regulation of arterial pressure and cholesterol levels in bloods.
