Detailed information

The growing trend towards sustainable and ethically designed textile and clothing is not only helping to create a greener planet, it also created a whole new job market. The sustainable design being part of the education process may give us a considerable edge in the industry, while learning to incorporate sustainable practices at process inception will add both a competitive advantage and encourage eco-design. The design education practice will help solve the challenges of sustainable development by ensuring that the next generation of leaders have the skills to address future challenges; that our education programs continue to transfer sustainability knowledge and skills and engage students on questions regarding future sustainable development; that our research continues to contribute to societal wellbeing with innovative solutions; and finally that our campuses continue to be showcases and living laboratories for new ways to enable sustainable development where students'groups focus on a major societal challenge to develop their capacity for critical thinking, interdisciplinary group work, and sustainable behavior.
