Detailed information

Morbid obesity is now important problem all over the world due to its multiple co-morbidities and its marked harmful effect on the lifestyle of the patients. Dietary and behavioral approaches to obesity have met with limited success and bariatric surgery is currently the only effective therapy for morbid obesity. Benefits of surgery include durable weight loss/ improved cardiovascular profile, remission of type II diabetes, and better quality of life. SG is a feasible and safe bariatric surgery procedure for morbid obesity, although evaluation of long-term outcome will be necessary to determine whether it yields durable results. Our study showed that the LSG is effective to achieve weight loss and resolve T2DM,this study evaluated the short and long term effects (1 day, 3M, 6M, 9M 12) of LSG on body weight and glucose homeostasis in morbid obese T2DM subjects not adequately controlled with medical therapy.
