Detailed information

In the present study, the LC50 values for tributyltin chloride exposed to test animal L. marginalis for 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours showed significant differences between seasons. The measured values is attained their lowest values during summer the highest values were found during winter; lowest values indicated high toxicity response in summer season. Perusal of literature reveals paucity of information on acute toxicity of tributyltin chloride on fresh water bivalve, L. marginalis with reference to different seasons. The effect of tributyltin chloride on freshwater organisms is quite insufficient compare to marine organisms, so in the present work emphasis has been given on to study the effect of tributyltin chloride on survival of freshwater bivalve, L. marginalis. This type of research work will be helpful to the research students working in the area of toxicology.
