Phytopharmacological studies on the leaves of Solanum nigrum Linn

Medicinal plants are widely used in the formulation of herbal based healthcare products from ancient time. In Indian Traditional Systems of Medicine, the whole plant or the parts of plant are used as raw materials. The botanical authentication, chemical, biochemical composition, Physico-chemical parameters give an idea about quality of herbs and helpful in standardization and quality control the crude drugs. The pharmacological activity of herbal drug is due to its active chemical constituents. Future of the plant drugs depends upon the maintenance of quality control/ standardization, therapeutic credibility, proper research findings and commitment to research on plant drugs. We should mingle our previous and modern techniques for future development of safe and efficacious drugs.
