Detailed information

This book provides an account of the biology of some swimming crab species inhabiting the Egyptian waters. Particular attention was paid to the ridged swimming crab Charybdis natator from the Gulf of Suez, Red Sea. In the opening article, the authors describe the structure of the population of this species particularly its reproductive biology. Then they go on to discuss the phenomenon of heterochely and handedness as well as assessment of its edibility. Finally, there is a comparative study on the meat yield of this species and that of other portunids from The Mediterranean Sea and the Suez Canal.
